Soaring High, Soaring Low

Spontaneous Composition: Dian and Carolyn composed this music as they performed together in a state of deep meditation. There was no prior discussion about themes, style, form or duration. Carolyn met Dian in Central Australia while researching the ethno-musicology of the songs of native aboriginal women. The depths of their musical connection became immediately apparent.

Sound & Colour: Many people are now aware of the great healing potential of sound, and also of colour. When these two modalities are combined, the effect is even more powerful. Dian and Carolyn have been using Sound and Colour together for healing for many years. For this recording, the two dominant colours were turquoise and pale pink. This meant that the sounds would focus around certain keys, but this was the only 'structure' we imposed on ourselves.

Dian Booth: Dian is an Australian Sound Healer, Musician and Composer. She has played in symphony orchestras in London, Sydney and Melbourne. In 1968 she received her degree in Psychology from Melbourne University. In London in 1980, Dian became aware of her talent for Healing with Sound and Colour through the expert guidance of two teachers of Meditation and Healing, John Garie and Caroline Sherwood. Sound and Colour Healing is an ancient tradition used in Egypt and other civilizations by spiritual teachers, priests and priestesses. Dian has steadily increased her knowledge in this field and is recognized as a Master Sound and Colour Healer.

Carolyn Sykes: Carolyn is an Australian-born harpist, now residing in Los Angeles. She performed in music festivals in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart. She is one of the founders of the Parkville Music School for Children in Melbourne. After moving to the US in 1986, she won several awards for her classical, jazz and pop styles. She studied with Carol McLaughlin at the University of Arizona and with Susan Allen at the California Institute of the Arts where she received her Masters of Fine Arts. Carolyn established Pacific Harps in Los Angeles for teaching and performing as a soloist, in ensemble, and as a healer. Her wide-ranging repertoire includes classical, jazz, pop, Broadway, celtic, folk, and music from around the world.
